🚀 Build Something That Gets You Noticed

Hey There 👋
Happy Better Yourself Friday!🌟 This week, we are talking about something that can make you stand out in interviews, applications, and even casual networking conversations. These are your personal projects.
You don’t need to be an artist, designer, or inventor to create something worth showing off. A personal project is simply any initiative you take outside of your required schoolwork or job duties that demonstrates your skills, creativity, and initiative. It’s proof that you don’t just talk about your abilities, rather that you can put them into action.
Think about it this way, if two candidates have the same qualifications, who’s going to stand out? The one who can say, “Oh, and here’s a blog I’ve been running on sustainable fashion,” or “I built a budget tracker for my friends that’s now being used by 200 people.”
This is how you can get started with your stand-out project. Start of by picking a topic that you care about. Your passion will keep you motivated, it could be about your field of study, a social cause, or even a hobby. Secondly, keep it manageable by starting off small. A single-page guide, a short video, or a case study can still have impact.
Thirdly, share it publicly. You could post it on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, or a personal website. Let people see your skills in action. Lastly, document your process. Showing people how you solve problems is just as impressive as the final result.
Remember, your personal projects are your personal brand in action. They say: “I’m curious, I’m proactive, and I take ownership.” And in a world full of cookie-cutter résumés, that’s the kind of statement that stands-out.
So without further ado, here’s another installment of Better Yourself Friday 😊

💡 Great Tips for Mahala
If you're wondering whether side projects are worth your time, they absolutely can be. But not all side projects are created equal. Internships still carry more weight since real-world experience shows your ability to collaborate and tackle complex challenges.
Instead of building cookie-cutter projects, focus on something meaningful like teaming up with classmates, solving a real problem, and sharing your work online for feedback. Remember quality over quantity, one stand-out project can speak volumes on your resume and in interviews.
