๐ Halfway through the year, give yourself some credit
๐ฑ Your half-year reality check starts here

Hey There ๐
Happy Better Yourself Friday! ๐ Weโve officially entered the second half of 2026, which makes this the perfect time to pause, breathe and check in with yourself.
January may have started with big plans, fresh goals and plenty of motivation. But six months later, life may look very different from what you imagined. Maybe you achieved more than expected. Maybe your plans changed. Maybe you spent most of the year simply trying to keep up with studies, applications, work, finances or personal responsibilities.
Wherever you are right now, this is not a moment to judge yourself. Itโs a chance to look reflect. ๐ฑ Your wins do not have to be huge to be recognised. Small wins still count. In fact, they often tell us more about our growth than the big milestones do โจ In the same breath you can think about what didnโt go according to plan.
Perhaps you delayed applications, struggled to stay consistent, spent more money than expected or lost focus on a goal that mattered to you. Instead of criticising yourself, try asking: What got in the way? Was the goal too broad? Understanding why something didnโt work is more useful than simply calling it a failure.
This is also a good time to review the goals you set at the beginning of the year. Some may still matter, while others may no longer fit the person you are becoming. You are allowed to adjust your plans. Changing direction does not always mean giving up, sometimes it means you have gained better information about what you truly want ๐ฏ
Most importantly, ask yourself what the first half of 2026 has taught you. Maybe you discovered that you work better with a routine, that you need to ask for help earlier or that comparing your journey to other people drains your confidence. These lessons can help you make smarter decisions for the rest of the year ๐ง
Remember, you still have six months to learn, apply, improve, change direction and create new opportunities. The first half of the year gave you lessons. The second half gives you a chance to use them ๐
So without further ado, hereโs another installment of Better Yourself Friday
Let's Gerrit!
You already have a take on which AI lab ships next.
Claude or Gemini? OpenAI or Anthropic? GPT-7 before year-end or not? If you read tech newsletters, you've already formed opinions on all of it.
Kalshi has real-money markets on which AI model leads benchmarks this week, which lab ships AGI first, when Anthropic releases Mythos, whether OpenAI raises ChatGPT pricing, and which company has the best coding model at year-end. These aren't abstract questions โ they're live markets with real money on both sides, moving as labs ship, benchmarks drop, and announcements land.
The edge belongs to whoever actually follows this space. Not the casual observer โ the person who reads model cards, tracks evals, and notices when a new release outperforms the field before the mainstream press catches up.
That person has a genuine edge. If that's you, Kalshi lets you act on it.

๐ก Great Tips for Mahala
Staying focused isnโt about forcing yourself to work harder, itโs about working smarter ๐ง โจ. This article recommends removing distractions, breaking big goals into smaller SMART goals, and repeating good habits until they feel natural.
Even a quick social media check can make it harder to get back into focus! Create a dedicated study or work space, track your progress, and remember: consistency turns concentration into a habit.
